Night Of The Arts

Thursday night was "Night Of The Arts" at Ashley's school.Going was a last minute plan. It was on the big board and I had seen it but I guess I was always thinking about other things and just didn't really SEE it. I remembered later Ashley did say something about it last week. She told me she really wanted us to go. Tim has been out of town but would get back in time to go. He drove a long way from NC but he said he would make it in time. This being Ashley's last year at her elementary school it meant a lot for us to go see what she had done in art this past year. Tim and I picked her up early from dance and rushed over to the school. Ashley was so proud to show off a poem she had written that told about her character and interest. She showed us a the scroll she made and pointed out the month she had made Character kid. We admired the abstract self portrait she had drawn. It had been hanging at our public library the month of March for the "Youth Art Month". I had planned for us to go see it but dance kept us hopping and I soon forgot the plans to go check it out. The award for getting chosen is a YAM certificate. Ashley thought that was pretty special. She received it 2 years straight. I can see bits of her in it,can't you?? After some hellos to her past teacher and checking out some more art work we headed home with some Captain D's for dinner. It was a pretty good evening we spent together. I am glad we got to go together and show Ashley how important her school work is to us.
