I thought about what we could do while Papa Cash is in town this weekend.Yesterday Tim took his dad golfing then his dad spent time outside with the grill smoking prime rib and a Pork loin for dinner. He also made some spicy beans and some pretty good noodle dish. Tim's dad has always been a pretty good cook and it is something he seems to enjoy. Today we took him on a tour of Clarksville. Mostly the historical parts of our town. We showed him the River Walk and fair grounds,I remembered the times I spent out on that river as a 20 years old with friends, boating and riding the big tubes. It was fun reminiscing, I have not been to a few of the areas we went by in years. When we walked down by the river we saw the bench where Tim proposed to me and we sat there and took a photo. I like seeing old buildings Like the old Frosty Morn plant, the train station and even some old plants and mills that are now rusty and used for storage and other things. Ashley enjoyed the fantastic park at the Fairgrounds. It was built a few years back by an all volunteer group of our own citizens. We have visited a few times. After today I think we need to have the Girl Scouts go out and spend a couple hours enjoying the park and having a picnic. I was reminded as we toured our town how much there is to see and how much you can find to do here.I am reminded how important it is to tell our kids about the times that have past and about the many places that have closed down where the parents of my childhood friends use to work. It is also important to see what all we have done over time. All that has been done in making Clarksville the place to be and showing us why we are at the top of the list for a great place to retire!!
Ashley wanted to stop by the park.Boy was it getting hot outside!!

Take the last train to Clarksville!! I love this old Train station. It sits close to town and is such a cool display that really catches your eye. They even set up here twice a week for the Farmers market.

Some of the old places we drove by today. You can see the old Frosty Morn plant where many Clarksvillians worked for years. The old Snuff building, and an old Mill.We also drove up behind the old Vulcan plant and saw more old buildings.

There are so many other places I would like to go see and take some pictures of. But for today we had seen plenty and we were all a bit hungry. The thought of left over prime rib was weighing heavy on my mind. I wanted to make sure I got to it first! Hopefully we can take another rode trip to see the old covered Bridge in Adams, and the "Bell" High school. Then I can tell Ashley all about the Bell witch haunted stories I use to here as a kid :o)
